It's Time for Some Winter Fun!

There's nothing better than a snowy day to wander through Ravelry.com, pick up some comfort knitting, or just generally get going on whatever lovely project you have at hand!  Winter is fun for us knitters and crocheters! And we have some crafting pleasure planned for you.  Here's our lineup of activities coming up in February and March.  Take a look and see if there's something that sparks your interest!

P.S.  Miguelle and I facilitate most of our workshops.  This allows us to keep the cost of our workshops very modest.  However, we do ask that you purchase supplies from RSY for each event. Workshops are non-refundable.  We are a small operation and we also keep groups small, making it very difficult to juggle cancellations.  Thank you for understanding. Call us for details and to register at 519-371-4311.

Joan Spence will lead our Knit Fix Workshop on Thursday Feb 6; 6-7:30pm.  Learn how to orient stitches on needles, how and when to “tink” (“knit” in reverse), when to rip, pick up dropped stitches, why and how to use a life line.  Advanced Beginners and up.  $35.
Make a Shoulder Cozy (design by Susan Sparks).  We use two strands of Super Bulky yarn and very big needles to make this beautiful garment.  You must know how to knit to participate but this workshop is appropriate for Beginner knitters.  February 22; 10-12pm.  Drop in help session on Saturday March 8; 10-12pm.  $35 + supplies.
Our Community Stitches are a relaxing and fun way to practice your craft and enjoy the company of like-minded people.  Join us in our freshly renovated Middle Room any Wednesday or Saturday afternoon from 1-3pm.  It's free and it's fun.  All are welcome!
This isn't a workshop or a class – it's a Make Along that lets you practice knitting a pair of socks on two circulars. You must have already knit a pair of socks to join this MAL. Sunday Feb 9, 23, and March 9; 1-3pm. There is no cost but we ask that you buy a new ball of sock yarn from RSY to participate.
Make a Wandering Sheep Hat (design by Kate Hudon).  You'll knit in the round and do stranded colour work. Saturday March 22; 10-12pm.  You must know how to knit to participate.  Drop in help session on Saturday April 5; 10-12pm.  $35 + supplies.

Our neighbour, the Georgian Bay School of the Arts, offers Beginner Knitting and Crochet Classes as well as many other Fiber Arts and Textile Classes. We offer a discount on supplies for some of their classes.  Ask your GBArts instructor about your discount at RSY.  Visit www.gbarts.ca to see their offerings.
Miguelle's Crochet a Basket Workshop has been very popular.  We have two spots left in our February 8 workshop; 10-12pm.  You must know how to crochet to participate.  $25 + supplies.
Crochet a Sunrise Coaster.  This workshop will have you playing with colour as you learn to make a beautiful coaster that will brighten up any table.  Make a whole set in different colours!  You must know how to crochet to participate.  Saturday April 19; 10-12pm.  $25 + supplies.
Happy winter crafting!
