It's business as usual at Riverside Yarns.
Yes, there has been a change of ownership at Owen Sound's downtown knitting hub. The sale, however, does not mean any down time for the local knitting and crochet community.
Catherine Den Tandt and Josette deBrouwer purchased Riverside Yarns on July15 from local businesswoman Willow Todd. They will continue to run the business from its current location at 928 2nd Ave. E. in the downtown core.
Willow and her family are preparing for exciting changes and we wish them all the best. For two and a half years Willow has provided technical help to knitters of all levels, and has introduced us to fabulous fibres. Her ally, Melanie Merswolke, was an invaluable help and will continue to provide the store with beautiful samples.
Together Willow and Melanie created a stylish haven for us wool lovers, and they have graciously helped the new owners learn the ropes.
Cathy and Josette admit they are not experts with knitting needles and crochet hooks. Together they have their fair share of unfinished objects and things 'on the go.' But they bring with them a willingness to learn and to support knitters and crocheters alike.
And they have learned a lot since April, when news came out that Willow was selling the business. They are looking forward to learning more about the needle craft industry, running a small business, and knitting and crochet.
More importantly, they are wholeheartedly looking forward to getting to know you, the loyal Riverside Yarns supporters.
So please, come in. Tell us about yourself. Stay and crochet, sit and knit.
