     We are thrilled to announce that Riverside Yarns is officially no longer for sale! We know … it’s all a bit confusing, but we have found a wonderful person, Miguelle Mann, who wishes to come on board with us to run Riverside Yarns. That was all we needed to carry on – just a bit of help to make it all work.  Miguelle is a talented crafter (she can sort of do anything) but her special love is Crochet.  Those of you who have met her already know that she is a warm and generous person who loves to help customers find the perfect project and the perfect yarn.  She joins me, Yves, and Joan as we look forward to showing you some of the lovely new Spring and Summer yarns we have brought in for the coming season.  We are energized and ready with patterns, ideas, wonderful tools, and of course, beautiful yarn for all your crafting needs.  We are so happy!  Welcome to Miguelle and thanks to all of you for hanging in there with us.  It’s a privilege to be here serving you.  The RSY Team

Top Right: We’ve never had a 100% Cotton Chunky yarn in the store and we think it’s time!  Breeze is the perfect yarn for a summer baby blanket or a cute crocheted crop top.  The colours are vivid and happy and the yarn is fully washable. 100g/125m, 137y; 100% Cotton; 14 stitches = 10cm on 6mm needles; $10/skein

We have sweater quantities of Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool in the store.  We re-stocked for the summer and want to highlight this classic Silk and Wool Blend.  The colours are so rich! 50g/177m, 192y; 45% Wool, 35% Silk, 20% Nylon; 22 stitches = 10cm on 4mm needles; $13.20/skein

Malabrigo! Malabrigo!  We love all their yarns and have brought in a nice re-stock of Rios, Silkpaca, Lace, and Rasta (for those still looking for one last really quick Winter knit!). We import this yarn directly from Malabrigo Yarns in Uruguay and we keep our prices as low as possible. So beautiful!

Soon On Our Shelves


We’ll soon have more Lichen & Lace from Sackville, New Brunswick.  We can’t keep this beautiful yarn on the shelves!  Megan Ingman has moved to a eco-processed Merino and all recycled Nylon for her popular 80/20 Sock base and we’ll be trying that out, along with more of her stunning Marsh Mohair.  Stay tuned for that arrival....

 



We love Elsebeth Lavold’s Silky Wool so much we’re bringing in another one of her classic lines – Hempathy – an all Natural yarn made from plant fibre that we are excited to feature for the coming season.  50g/140m, 151y; 41% Cotton, 34% Hemp, 25% Modal; 22 stitches = 10cm on 3.75mm needles; $12/skein.




 
 
Finally, we are so excited to be offering our own line of project bags!  Miguelle is the designer and creator of these in-house beauties.  You’ll soon be able to store your precious hand knit or crochet in a Riverside Yarns original! Prices will range from $45 to $60.

 
Joan's Knitting Clinic
 
Every Wednesday from 4-6pm, Joan Spence hosts a drop-in Knitting Clinic! Get specialized help with a project in a convenient and budget friendly way.  Here's how it works:
$15 + HST flat fee
Come whenever it works for you; No registration necessary
First come first serve; Stay for as long as you like (flat fee applies regardless)
Bring a coffee and a second project to work on while waiting your turn (if necessary)
Please call the store ahead of time just to be sure Joan isn't on holidays or away.
 


Our April Make-Along (MAL)
 
We’re finally able to host our second Make-Along (MAL) at the store!  We had a lot of fun on Sunday afternoons in the Fall and we want to do it again!  Join us in the store to knit or crochet, have a cup of tea and enjoy each other’s company. There is no charge to join the MAL.  We ask that you purchase yarn for a new project at the store before the start of the MAL.  Please call the store to sign up as space is limited. You can work on anything you want but we will feature the following patterns:

Eucalan Refill Program
 

In an effort to save you some money and be more ecologically responsible, we are offering a refill program for your Eucalan Wool Wash beginning in April!  We’ll start by offering 500ml refills in Unscented Eucalan.  We’ll announce the details after March 31st, but you’ll be pleased with the savings! 

 
Community Stitches
Riverside Yarns invites you to sit around the table and knit or crochet every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon from 1-3pm.  Please join us to chat, stitch, share stories, skills, and tips.  It’s free and it’s fun!

 


A Word About Classes

Our neighbour The Georgian Bay School of the Arts offers a wide array of textile and fibre based classes, including Knitting and Crochet classes.   If you sign up for a Knitting or Crochet class at GBArts, Riverside Yarns will offer a 15% discount on a set of needles/crochet hook and the yarn of your choice to help get you started on your class project.  Just let us know you are taking a Knitting or Crochet class at GBArts.

It’s inventory time and that means a SALE!
It’s time to count balls of yarn again and we’d rather sell them first!  The store will be closed for Inventory and Spring Cleaning on April 3rd, and April 4th.  We’ll open again for regular hours on Friday, April 5th. We’ll be announcing a nice sale just before we start counting.  Stay tuned for INVENTORY SALE NEWS!

Linda Gee mixed Rhichard Devrieze Sirocco and Malabrigo Dos Tierras to great effect to make her gorgeous Odyssey Shawl!  Linda knit her shawl during our Fall MAL

 
Ronda Couture also participated in our Fall MAL.  She crocheted  her lovely Double Crochet All the Way Shawl with one ball of Chic-Unique DK. It will make a perfect Spring shawl!

 
Claire Gagnon uses a refurbished antique sock machine to knit up piles of beautiful socks using Pro Lana Sockenwolle.  Amazing and so fast!
 
Here is Marilyn Mutch wearing her Hitchhiker Shawl knit in Rhichard Devrieze Thede. Elegant as always, Marilyn!
 



Lydia Meyer did a beautiful job on her Lunenburg Pullover using Lichen & Lace Rustic Sport.  Several knitters made this sweater during our MAL in the Fall.  It’s a beautiful pattern and Lydia makes it shine!

 

 




We love Joji Locatelli’s designs and this one is so beautifully knit by Pat Wagter.  It’s the Adventurous and it’s knit in Cascade Pima Cotton.



 


 

Marilyn is modelling her stunning Rauma sweater, made for her by the talented Johanna Brown using Silky Wool.  The cowl is a traditional bobin lace pattern from Finland applied to knitting by the designer.
